I'm Brad Schumacher, and I'm excited to announce my candidacy for Sherburne County Commissioner. As someone deeply rooted in our community with a rich background in small business and grassroots government, I'm eager to bring my experience and passion for service to this important role.
I'll work tirelessly to hold government management accountable. We must reduce unnecessary spending and keep taxes low, ensuring our community thrives without financial strain.
By reducing government red tape and fostering an environment that welcomes new developments, we can create job opportunities and boost our local economy.
I believe in an open government where your voice matters. Your ideas and feedback are crucial in shaping policies that benefit all of us. The foundation for this starts by ensuring the County Auditor/Treasurer position is always elected by the people and never appointed by the county board.

I was born in Monticello and grew up in Elk River, Minnesota. My father worked as a carpenter, and my mother dedicated her time to raising our family. Princeton has always been our home base, with deep ties to the community through my grandfather, who served as a Princeton Police Officer after his time in the Korean War.
My father’s job took us across South Dakota and Wisconsin, and we returned to Minnesota in the mid-1990s, where I graduated from Princeton High School. I’ve been here ever since. I attended Anoka Ramsey Community College and explored various professions, including construction, car sales, and financial management.
I found one of my callings in real estate, and I’ve been a full-time realtor since 2008. Helping individuals and families achieve property ownership has been one of my most rewarding experiences. I offer extensive industry and community knowledge to each of my clients, providing guidance and advice throughout the process. Success for me is when a buyer or seller is able to confidently choose a new property or move on from an old one.
Another passion is, of course, local leadership. I’m proud of and dedicated to serving our great community. The various roles I’ve held haven’t always been easy, but I’m not leaving. I’m prepared to challenge and be challenged, always fighting for the best for my neighbors, town, township and county.
As a long time resident of Baldwin Township and the Princeton area, I have had the opportunity to see Brad Schumacher’s leadership through a global pandemic and a presidential election.
After seeing his leadership during his time as chairman of Baldwin Township and mayor of Princeton, I’m proud to support him in his candidacy for Sherburne County commissioner, as I’ve seen first-hand his dedication to our community. His common sense, leadership style and conservative values truly represent our community and he works hard to keep taxes at bay while promoting growth and small business in our community.
Schumacher places a strong value on election integrity, which is something fundamental to our republic. As of the last 2020 presidential election, Baldwin Township voted 71% conservative, yet we are not currently represented by a conservative commissioner.
As a resident of Baldwin Township and the Princeton area, I can proudly say that I highly recommend Schumacher for Sherburne County commissioner. Together let’s support Schumacher and the values of Sherburne County.

We have to take action now to address the challenges pandemic recovery and Bidenomics have created for our community. The long tail of inflation is painful for working families and devastating for folks on fixed retirement incomes. We've all seen this “hidden tax” created by all branches of the government.
Excessive government spending has led to higher taxes and utilities, burdening both families and the business owners who are then forced to pass costs on to consumers. With your support, I’ll be a bold voice at the county board that says, “No.”
As your County Commissioner, I aim to address these issues on a local level - head-on.
I first acted on my passion for public service by running for a seat on the Baldwin Township Board of Supervisors in 2013. I narrowly lost, but two years later I ran again and won. As an elected member of the town board, I embraced the hands-on nature of grassroots governance, tackling issues directly and effectively. I stood firm against unfunded state mandates and fought for the best interests of our township.
My experience as Baldwin Township Chairman prepared me to do the impossible. In the 166 years since Minnesota became a state, the first time a Township Chairman resigned from the board, moved to town 34 days before the election, and became the new City Mayor was when the people of Princeton elected me in 2018.
As mayor I sought to energize the administration to recognize the plethora of opportunities for growth and development at our fingertips. This kind of progress only happens when you respect everyone's land rights. Some property owners want solitude and space on their acreage, others want to shovel snow off sidewalks and walk to pick up groceries for exercise. We are all in different chapters of the same walk of life. As mayor I improved our community while honoring individual differences.
All of this experience has prepared me to take on the responsibilities of County Commissioner with dedication and enthusiasm of the deep appreciation for both rural and city life. It’s been my honor to serve as the voice for Baldwin Township residents and the residents of The City of Princeton to share the abundant opportunity both communities bring to Sherburne County.
I have known Brad Schumacher for 20 years. His work as a Baldwin Township supervisor and Princeton Mayor have shown that he is driven to help the conservative values of our community remain. As his entrepreneurial spirit encourages new business, it will help to create new job opportunities in our community. He will work diligently to ensure we thrive without financial strain on our households.{/span}
I have found Brad reliable and always willing to listen and give a helping hand. On Nov. 5, a vote for Brad will be a vote for fiscal responsibility and common sense.
